6th Taiwanese Music Festival Final Concert 2007 - Completed Print

The 6th Annual Taiwanese Music Festival was held at the Greenhills School on May 17th, 2008.  This festival is a part of celebration for the Asian-American Heritage month. This festival is considered to be one of the premiere events in the Greater Detroit Area to celebrate the heritage of Taiwanese-Americans as praised by the Governor of Michigan, U.S. Senator and congressmen from Michigan.

This year the festival attracted more than 200 people from the community with diverse background.  We are honored to present MiTai Distinguished Service Award to Ken Fischer, the president of University of Musical Society (UMS)- under his leadership, UMS has brought Asian music and Asian musicians to Michigan audience for more than 20 years.  Ming Hsiu Yen, a music PhD student in Univiersity of Michigan, also performed as our guest performer of the year.

Celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and the Taiwanese American Heritage Week

Time: 7-9 pm, May 17, 2008
Place: Campbell Center for the Performing Arts, Greenhills School, 850 Greenhills Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48105
Program: - Taiwanese music with String & Piano
                - Honor Performance by Ming-Hsiu Yen
                - Choir Performance
               - Presentation of 1st MiTAI Award to Kenneth C. Fischer, President of UMS for promoting Asian music & musicians

Free Admission: Donations, sponsorship welcome


Light refreshment will be provided after the concert.

For the performers:
Winners of the two 2008 TMF auditions will be presented awards and perform their assigned music composed by Taiwanese composers in the concert on May 17. The young musicians should arrive at the Campbell Center of the Greenhills School by 6:30 pm on May 17 to prepare for the ceremony and performance. Please call Brocade Wu at (734) 761-6928 or Samson Chu at (734) 432-6902 if there’s any question.
